It is becoming more apparent in Devon that victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (DA/SV) who have insecure immigration status face additional challenges when trying to access support from both statutory and voluntary services.
A fully funded two day training programme on Immigration as a weapon of abuse has been developed to provide professionals with the knowledge and skills to advocate for victims and survivors in order to live free from harm and abuse.
The training will include:
- Raising awareness about the legal duties on supporting victims and survivors with the NRPF condition and insecure immigration status.
- Effective response tools to negative/non-compliant decisions from statutory bodies regarding immigration and abuse.
- Challenges faced by Black and Minoritized Victims and Survivors in relation to insecure immigration status and the NRPF condition.
- Challenges faced by Black and Minoritized Victims and Survivors in relation to Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence.
- Developing an anti-oppressive practice
Teas and coffee will be provided.
