SUMMARY:RASSO 2025 - Pre Trial Therapy Guidance Events for CPS SW Stakehold
 ers
DESCRIPTION:The wellbeing of victims is paramount in every investigation. S
urvivors of sexual offences can seek the support they need and not worry t
heir road to recovery will have an impact on court proceedings. Balancing
a victim’s right to privacy with a suspect’s right to a fair trial is
a sensitive issue. That’s why we are clear that therapy notes should onl
y be requested where relevant and how they may be used must be clearly exp
lained from the outset. Too few victims are seeing justice done\, we must
rebuild confidence\, so more victims are able to see the criminal justice
process through.\n In response to queries following the refreshed guidanc
e\, as to when the CPS will seek access to therapy notes\, we are happy to
be able to offer events on pre-trial therapy guidance for our stakeholder
s.\nThe event will be held virtually and will take the format of a short p
resentation followed by a Question and Answer session. The sessions will b
e led by Vicky Gleave\, the Unit Head of the Rape &amp\; Serious Sexual Of
fences (RASSO) team at the Crown Prosecution Service South West.\n&nbsp\;\
nThe presentation will explain:\n\n\n Key changes in the policy\n The Vi
ctims’ right to decide\n Reasonable lines of enquiry\n Compliance with
data protection laws and disclosure\n Framework and guidance in place to
ensure that requests for notes are rare and not intrusive\n\nThe date and
  time for this event is:\n\n 1 March 2023: 14.00-15.00\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nIf y
ou are interested in attending one of the events\, please register via Eve
ntbrite:\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe full Legal Guidance for Pre-Trial Therapy is av
ailable via the CPS website: Pre-Trial Therapy | The Crown Prosecution Ser
 vice (cps.gov.uk)\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;
