SUMMARY:OUT OF THE SHADOWS - IMPROVING RESPONSES TO WOMEN AND ADULT SEXUAL 
 EXPLOITATION - MULTIPLE ONLINE LEARNING EVENTS

 oLab Exeter has been supporting women facing multiple disadvantage since 2
 017\, including those facing rough sleeping\, homelessness\, domestic and 
 sexual violence and abuse\, substance misuse and involvement in the justic
 e system.   As part of this\, we have been identifying and exploring the
  needs of adult women who are at risk of involvement in the sex industry w
 ith a specific focus on those facing sexual exploitation due to their limi
 ted circumstances.\n\nWhilst there is clear legislation in relation to pro
 tection of children under the age of 18\, there is no statutory definition
  in relation to adult sexual exploitation for those aged 18+.   This lea
 ves many women without adequate protection and support.   This training 
 will give an overview of work to date and explore options for improved sup
 port.\n\nThrough funding from the Office for the Police &amp\; Crime Commi
 ssioner\, we are now able to offer multiple online 3 hour training events 
 to a wide range of staff across the system\, which will also include an op
 portunity to gain a wider picture of the needs of those affected in both r
 ural and urban areas across Devon.\n\nAll participants will have access to
  a free copy of the ‘Out of the Shadows’ sexual exploitation toolkit.\
 n\nThe training will include:\n\n 	Definitions of sexual exploitation and 
 grooming\n 	Who may be vulnerable\n 	Risks\, issues and signs\n 	Complexit
 ies of supporting adults being sexually exploited (how it can present)\n 	
 Transitions from young person to adulthood\n 	Safeguarding frameworks\n 	G
 ood practice re. responding to Adult Sexual Exploitation\n\n\n 	Signpostin
 g and other resources/support\n\nTeas and coffee will be provided.\n\nSpac
