 dern slavery is a serious human rights abuse. \n\nThe Modern Slavery Act w
 as introduced in 2015 as a world-leading piece of legislation that would h
 elp combat this abhorrent crime. Nearly ten years on\, modern slavery is s
 till largely misunderstood and UK responses still fall far short of the ex
 pectations set out when the legislation was launched.\n\nThis seminar will
  give an overview of what modern slavery is in the UK context\, using case
  studies and the speaker's first-hand experience. Andrew will also offer a
  critical view of why modern slavery occurs and is allowed to flourish.\n\
 nFinally\, Andrew will outline what support is available for victims and s
 urvivors and how practitioners can successfully advocate for and support p
 eople who have experienced trafficking and exploitation.\n\nThis event wil
