Right for Children – user notes

Accessing ‘Right for Children’

To access the ‘Right for Children’ log in page go to
https://www.qes-online.com/Devon/eCAF/Live/Login

  1. Enter your username and password. If it is your first time using ‘Right for Children’ you will be promoted to reset your password.
  2. After entering your password you will be asked to complete the 2 factor authentication by having an authentication code sent to you via email of SMS (text message)

Dashboard page

The first page you see when you log into ‘Right for Children’ is the landing page. This gives an overview of the number of cases you are the lead practitioner for as well as cases you are involved with. You can expand the tabs by clicking on them to find out more information about actions and forms which are open to you.

Managers have access to a ‘managers dashboard’ which provides them with an overview of cases and actions which are open to their team or which their team members are involved with.

Viewing your cases

You can view a list of the cases you are the lead practitioner for and cases you are involved with by clicking on ‘My Cases’ at the top of the screen.

Starting a new case

  1. To start a new case click on ‘start new case’ at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter the surname name of the family into ‘case name’. The system will run an initial duplicate case check, and display the results of the check below the ‘case name’ bar.
  3. If the family are not already on the system you can create a case record by clicking on the green save button on the right hand side of the screen.

Case summary screen and adding family members

Every family has a case summary screen which gives an overview of that case. When you first create a case for a family the summary screen will appear as below. The ‘next steps’ bar on the left hand side of the screen guides you through what you need to do next to set up the family profile and begin an assessment. The first step is to add family members. To do this click on the green add family members button on the right and hand side of the screen.

Enter the details of the family member and then click the green save button on the right hand side of the screen.

Recording consent

Once you have added the family members the next step is to record consent. You can do this by clicking on the ‘take me there’ button under ‘next steps’ on the right hand side of the screen.

Clicking the ‘take me there’ button will take you to the observations folder with the documents screen. Observations are used for recording notes related to the case. You record consent by adding an observation. To do this click on the blue add button on the right hand side of the screen.

Under observation type select ‘consent’ and record the details of the observation. Once completed click the green save button on the right hand side of the screen.

Starting the assessment

Following the recording of consent the next step is to start the assessment. To do this click on the ‘take me there’ button.

Clicking on ‘take me there’ will take you to the assessments folder within the documents screen. To add a new assessment click on the blue add button on the right hand side of the screen.

Fill in the assessment form. You can save an assessment as draft by clicking the green save button (the top button) on the right hand side of the screen. Once the assessment is finished you can save a final version by clicking the amber button (the middle button) on the right hand side of the screen.

Completing the plan and review

The next step is to agree the plan. Click on the ‘take me there’ button.

This will take you to the ‘plan and review’ folder within the documents screen. You can add a plan and review form by clicking the blue add button.

As with the Assessment, complete the plan form and then save using the buttons on the right hand side of the screen.

Final summary and case closure

Once the case is ready for closure the final step is to complete a final summary form. As above with the Assessment and Plan you can do this by clicking on ‘take me there’ under next steps on the summary screen. This will take you to the final summary form folder within the documents screen. You can add the form in the same way as you would the Assessment and Plan. Once you have completed the form use the buttons on the right hand side to save.

Viewing documents

You can also view and add forms by clicking on the ‘documents’ near the top of the screen. This will take you to the documents screen, which shows folders for the various form types. You can view specific forms by clciking on these folders.

Adding team around family members

To view the team around the family click on ‘team around family’ near the top of the screen. To add team around family members click on the blue add button on the right hand side of the screen.

You will be able to search for and select the team around family members as well as assign them a role type.

Messages

You can view messages by clicking ‘messages’ at the top of the screen.
