The Devon Safeguarding Children Partnership (Devon SCP) are responsible for safeguarding children in Devon. This Partnership is made up of Devon County Council, Devon and Cornwall Police and NHS Devon Integrated Care Board, who have joint and equal responsibility to safeguard children and young people.
The Partnership also incorporates all ‘relevant agencies’ who have safeguarding responsibilities. This includes education settings, the voluntary sector and specialist services.
The Partnership was established on 1 July 2017 and merged the functions of the Devon Safeguarding Children Board (DSCB) and the Children, Young People and Families Alliance (Alliance). Originally known as the Devon Children and Families Partnership, the Partnership initially held a much broader scope of delivering the Children and Young People’s Plan.
On 5 September 2023, the Partnership changed its name to the Devon Safeguarding Children Partnership (Devon SCP), which marked a shift in focus to place stronger emphasis on safeguarding and child protection.
