16 Days of Action

The annual 16 Days of Action campaign is a global call from organisations, individuals and communities for an end to gender-based violence (regardless of victim’s gender) and the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

This year it’s taking place from 25 November to 10 December.

Violence against women and girls, such as sexual violence, domestic abuse, harassment and stalking have devastating consequences.1.6 million women in England and Wales experience domestic abuse yearly (2020). 25% of women aged 16 to 74 are estimated to have experienced some form of abuse before the age of 16.

These experiences not only touch the life of the person directly affected, but they impact on their family, friends and communities. We all play a key role in challenging these behaviours, which is why we are encouraging our communities in Devon to get involved in the 16 Days of Action.

To mark the campaign this year, organisations and community groups across Devon are hosting a range of in person and virtual events and activities to help bring together communities, raise awareness and shine a light on the support available to victims and survivors.
