Join the Department of Education’s upcoming consultation events

As part of its ongoing commitment to regularly review the Working Together to Safeguard Children statutory guidance, DfE are running some focused consultation events in preparation for a proposed update to the publication in 2026.

The proposed updates aim to strengthen a system that safeguards all children, including:

  • Learning from serious child safeguarding incidents
  • Strengthening anti-discriminatory practice
  • Improving responses to child sexual abuse and domestic abuse
  • Safeguarding looked-after children

In line with the Families First Partnership Programme, the DfE will also explore ways to incorporate key learning from system reform into statutory guidance.

Some of the events will give people a chance to talk about specific themes, while others will gather views from different sectors. There will also be opportunities to share feedback on the Children’s Social Care National Framework as well as the statutory guidance published with Working Together to Safeguard Children in 2023.  Views from a wide range of multi-agency partners are welcomed.

The events are listed below – please click on the booking links to register.
