Understanding Modern Slavery and the National Referral Mechanism

Aim: This course will focus on children and young people in transition to adults with an emphasis on CSE and CCE. Modern Slavery, NRM and Trafficking.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this course learners will be able to:

• Explain recruitment and control measures used within modern slavery and trafficking of children and vulnerable adults.
• Recognise and respond to modern slavery – how this links to local/ national
• safeguarding processes.
• Know when and how the National Referral Mechanism is used, practitioner’s roles including as a First Responder.

Know the difference between children and adult NRM processes and the transition between these.
