Tools to Assess Neglect (Graded Care Profile 2)

This is an assessment tool that supports practitioners to make a judgement about whether or not parental care is neglectful. The tool helps practitioners to measure the quality of care given to a child, and make it easier for professionals to spot when sub-optimal parenting is putting a child at risk of harm. Run over two sessions, it is four hours in total.

This is an interactive course that has a focus on levels of need, and child protection definitions. The course develops participants understanding of risk within child safeguarding practice, by breaking down risk in a way that enables delegates to assess and analyse risk, and monitor the risk trajectory. Exploring family networks

Families have friends, relations and colleagues around them – and in their community – who care about them and understand when they may be struggling or need help and support.

Family networking means thinking about and focussing on the strengths and resources in that network of people that the family have around them as well as realising the importance of involving people that the family know, when they need help in their life. Family networking can help families talk about the things that are hard to deal with and find answers together. Family networking recognises that everyone has different strengths. When times are tough, asking for help from family and friends is an important way of networking with the family during times of up and downs.
